Technology

Green Gas Germany (G.A.S.)

Green Gas uses technology from G.A.S. for utilisation of coal mine methane. This technology has been developed over more than 20 years, giving G.A.S. unique expertise in a wide range of methane gas mitigation uses. G.A.S. has installed more than 130 MWel of combined heat and power generating capacity using mine gas.

G.A.S. technology is supplied in mobile, containerised modules. These use advanced and efficient engines that offer the best possible flexibility and enable project risk to be minimised. Capacity can be adjusted rapidly, enabling energy supply to be maximised while operating costs are minimised.

Hofstetter Umwelttechnik AG

Based in Switzerland, Hofstetter Umwelttechnik AG (Hofstetter) specialises in gas collection systems and flares. With over 30 years' experience and over 1,000 plants installed worldwide, Hofstetter uses the latest incineration technology to ensure the safe and quietest possible flaring of gas.

MEGTEC Systems

MEGTEC Systems is Green Gas' technology partner for the utilisation of Ventilation Air Methane (VAM) with methane concentrations of below 1.5 per cent.

MEGTEC is a leader in emission control systems, with more than 3,000 oxidizers globally supplied to industrial customers for the abatement of low contents of hydrocarbons in air. This technology is based on the oxidisation of methane.

DPB

Surface and underground drilling capability as well as mine gas production and distribution are provided by DPB, our Czech subsidiary. DPB has considerable experience not only of routine drilling for gas drainage, geothermal water, geological exploration and large-diameter ventilation boreholes but also special-technology drilling in geological anomalies, porous sandstones and carboniferous gas deposits. In addition to comprehensive laboratory capabilities, DPB provides expertise in investigation, quantification and remediation of fugitive, distributed gas emissions from the surface soils in urban areas around abandoned mines.

Taken together, these in-house skills and technologies give Green Gas a leading capability to optimise every aspect of mining-related gas emissions, over the full life-cycle of a mine, in every geological setting, to optimise the utilisation of the captured gas, for the generation of green electricity and heat, and to maximise the revenue from CO2 credits.
